Abstract. e article is devoted to the reconstruction ofthe socio-philosophical views ofthe
ideologists ofthe movement ofSiberian regionalists on the interaction ofethnic cultures. e rele-
vance ofaddressing the ideological heritage ofthe patriots ofSiberia is due to several circumstanc-
es. Firstly, 2022 marks exactly 180 years since the birth ofNikolai Mikhailovich Yadrintsev, the
leader ofSiberian regionalism. Secondly, the current state ofinterethnic relations, unfortunately,
is accompanied by contradictions and some con ict clashes against the background ofethnic ste-
reotypes rooted inthe minds ofthe masses. erefore, the appeal to the creative heritage ofG.N.
Potanin and N.M. Yadrintsev, inwhich attempts were repeatedly made to theoretically compre-
hend the harmonization ofinterethnic interactions, seems to be relevant. Based on the analysis
ofthe journalism ofregional thinkers, the authors found that the progressive movement ofethno-
culture acquires the direction ofsocial integration, cultural progress is regarded not as a transition
from the lower to the higher, but as a natural modi cation ofthe ethnocultural features ofthe
subethnos. e publication shows that the alternative approach ofN.M. Yadrintsev and G.N. Pota-
nin to ethno-cultural interaction allows us to present the policy inthe eld ofculture through the
interaction and struggle oftwo lines— „hard“, aimed at standardization and uni cation ofcultur-
al activities, and „so “, allowing the coexistence ofcultures ofdi erent types. All this is possible,
according to the teachings ofthe regionalists, with equal access to any kind ofresources.
