Abstract. e religiosity ofRussians is changing under thein uence ofglobal andlocal factors
that characterize the post-industrial development ofsociety: the repertoire of religious move-
ments andbeliefs is changing, religious practices andperceptions offaith andattitudes toward
believers are being transformed. Being simultaneously a social andindividual quality, re ecting
individual experiences andthein uence ofsociety, theexisting norms andinstitutionalized (con-
structed by social actors andformed inthe course ofsocialization) social perceptions ofreligion
andfaith, religiosity is re ected inthe public consciousness inthe form ofgeneralized images,
whose characteristics have common, common to all Russians, andunique components, deter-
mined by di erent factors. e article presents theresults ofpsychosemantic studies infour bor-
der regions ofRussia (Altai Territory, Novosibirsk Region, Altai Republic, Republic ofTuva, n =
200). e images offour carriers ofreligiosity— “I am a believer, I follow theteachings ofthe
church, I consider myself a follower ofa certain religion”, “I believe inGod inmy own way, but I do
not practice a particular religion”, “I cannot say whether I believe or not”, “I am not a believer, such
things do not interest me”, “I am not a believer because religious teachings are wrong”, assessed by
thestatements from thescale of“Spiritual personality” inadaptation ofG. V. Ozhiganova. Several
semantic spaces are constructed andinterpreted— common forall regions ofthe study andsep-
arate foreach region. e authors conclude that thehypothesis ofthe existence ofcommon bases
ofcategorization is only partially true. e con guration ofthe images inthe space correlates with
theethno-religious features ofthe region andre ects thespeci city ofthe regional mentality.
