Abstract. e problem ofdomestic violence does not lose its relevance: ina changing society,
the institution ofthe family isalso undergoing constant changes, contacts within the family are
being transformed, and there isan escalation ofnegative trends ininterpersonal communication.
e consequences ofdomestic violence have the broadest pro le ofaction: at the physiological, in-
trapersonal, interpersonal, institutional, and global levels. Domestic violence, being inherently an
unlawful phenomenon that infringes on personal integrity and dignity, isstill perceived insociety
as an ordinary phenomenon. However, one can con dently assert its unambiguously negative
impact on both the social structure and the mental organization ofthe individual. is work aims
to explore the student-age youth’s ideas about domestic violence, since it isyoung people who are
both a re ection ofmodern society and a agship ofchange within it. Identi cation ofstudents’
views on domestic violence was carried out through an appeal to the psychodiagnostic appara-
tus. e study revealed the dominant level oftrust inthe myths about domestic violence among
students, revealed the absence ofsigni cant di erences inthe answers of boys and girls. is

indicates a fairly deep spread offalse ideas related to domestic violence, the eradication ofwhich
seems to be a di cult, but quite feasible process, which should originate not so much within an
individual, but ina system ofsocial relationships. We also assume the existence ofa general trend
towards the uni cation ofstandards ofeducation for both sexes. Inaddition, inthe context ofthe
spread ofhumanistic values, it isquite natural to adopt a critical view ofthe problem ofdomestic
violence. Finally, respondents who are inclined to minimize the damage ofdomestic violence are
more likely to justify the abuser. is can be explained by the young people’s belief that violence
must be earned and that its actor has good reason to ‘punish’ his partner inthis way.
