Abstract. Creating conditions for recreation andhealth improvement for children inRussia
is apriority area ofsocial policy. Special attention is paid to creating conditions for recreation
for certain categories ofchildren indi cult life situations andproviding them with preferen-
tial vouchers. earticle analyses theassessments ofparents ofchildren ofprivileged catego-
ries who have spent their holidays inchildren’s recreation andhealth improvement institutions
over thepast two years. eresults ofa nationwide survey conducted by theRussian State
Social University in2023 were used for theanalysis. Parents who indicated that their family
belonged to thepreferential category took part inthe survey (N = 973). Based on thesurvey
data, theauthors distinguish groups ofproblems related to awareness ofthe opportunities to
receive preferential vouchers, preparation for recreation, its organization, andthequality ofser-
vices. eidenti ed problems indicate the need to develop national projects for recreation
andhealth improvement for children inprivileged categories and take additional measures
to improve thequality ofrecreation andimplement state guarantees for this category ofchil-
dren. On thebasis ofparents’ opinions, theauthors have compiled amodal portrait offamilies
ofprivileged categories that are most dissatis ed with their children’s recreation. eresults
obtained can be used to improve measures related to theimplementation ofstate policy inthe
eld ofchildren’s recreation.
