THE STUDY OF LATE BRONZE AGE SITES IN THE SOUTH OF WESTERN SIBERIA WITHIN THE UNIFIED IRMEN CULTURE (the 1970s – the first half of the 1980s)

Abstract
This work is a review of the fourth period of study of Irmen antiquities, researched in the forest-steppe part of Western Siberia in the 1970s – the first half of the 1980s. This is a description of the prerequisites that contributed to the activation of scientific activities at the regional level, as well as the field research and basic concepts. We have shown that the formation of research concepts occurred during the heyday of Siberian archaeology, based on an increase in the source fund, large-scale excavations conducted on a vast territory from the Mariinsk-Achinsk forest-steppe in the East to the Irtysh forest-steppe region in the West.
The study of the works of V.V. Bobrov, V.A. Zakh, Yu.F. Kiryushin, M.F. Kosarev, A.V. Matveev, V.I. Matyushenko, V.I. Molodin, D.G. Savinov, E.A. Sidorov, V.I. Stefanov, T.N. Troitskaya, A.Ya. Trufanov, N.L. Chlenova, A.B. Shamshin and other authors made it possible to conduct a comparative analysis, identify the general and special features, show the ways of researchers’ ideas evolution on such issues as the origin of culture, its component structure, chronology and periodization, interaction with other cultural entities, territorial borders, local differences, historical destinies, and the reconstruction of social processes and economic activities. This allowed us to identify the features of perception by specialists of Irmen antiquities that are typical for this stage of the Siberian archaeology development.
