Features of the burial practice of the population of the forest-steppe Altai in the transitional period from bronze to iron

Abstract

The article deals with the formation of the burial practice of the population of the forest-steppe Altai during the transition period from the Bronze Age to the Early Iron Age. The main indicators of the funeral rite and inventory are studied, connections between various objects are established. On the basis of a typological analysis of ceramics, implements, and a planigraphic study of burial objects, a conclusion is made about various groups of burial grounds, within the framework of the transition period from bronze to iron. On the basis of the revealed features, as well as with the involvement of the results of radiocarbon dating of the Bobrovsky ground burial ground, the chronological position of the necropolises is substantiated, within the 9th-7th centuries. BC. It is indicated that, according to anthropological data, the population of the period under consideration was formed on the basis of the interaction of two populations. It was established that the development of the burial practice of the forest-steppe Altai developed along the line: the burial grounds of Maly Gonbinsky Kordon 1/5, Krotovsky Elban, Firsovo I (late Irmenian tradition) — Bobrovsky ground burial — burial grounds Blignie Elbany VII, XII, XIV, in the latter the features of the early iron age.
