Productivity of some varieties of hybrid peony in the conditions of the Saratov Volga region

Abstract

The article presents the results of studying the flowering productivity of representatives of the peony family in the conditions of the Saratov Volga region. Two species (Paeonia tenuifolia L., Paeonia lactiflora Pall.) from the collection of the Department of Flora and Vegetation and 14 varieties of garden peony from the collection of the Department of Introduction of Floral and Ornamental Crops were used as material for the study: ‘Madame Emile Lemoine, ‘Henry Sass, ‘Baronessa Schroeder, ‘Marguerita Gerard, ‘Kuban Cossack, ‘Cornelia Shaylor, ‘Bonanza, ‘Good’s Dream, ‘Bunker Hill, ‘Chippewa, ‘Tempest, ‘Sir Thomas Lipton’. The study showed that the studied species of P. lactiflora and P. tenuifolia differed in the rhythm of development and flowering productivity. In addition, it was found that there were no significant differences between the samples of milk-flowered peony and its varietal forms in terms of flowering productivity. The results obtained showed that the P. lactiflora and P. tenuifolia are stable in culture, are of interest for breeding work, floristry, landscape design and can be recommended for landscaping in the Saratov Volga region.
