Diversity of Legumes of Buryatia: data analysis by grid mapping

Abstract
The results of assessment of floristic diversity of the Fabaceae based on spatial data using grid mapping (based on the registration of the fact of taxon presence within a particular grid cell) with the use of GIS-technologies (QGIS) are presented. The database of localities of higher vascular plants of the Republic of Buryatia (as of August 2025), which is being formed and supplemented, contains data on 136 species of the Fabaceae from 17 genera, including 11686 geographic coordinates for taxa (the largest number of georeferences is made for the genera Oxytropis (3042), Astragalus (2509), Vicia (1322), Caragana (1109)). The performed analysis of floristic richness by counting the number of points in the polygons showed that the greatest number of 28 to 58 values in the cell are in the southern regions of the republic, where the steppe type of vegetation predominates and in mountain systems (Eastern Sayan, Khamar-Daban, Barguzin Ridge, Ulan-Burgasy, Vitimskoye Plateau). The absence of values or their smallest number (up to 7) is observed in the northern regions of the republic and in intermountain basins in the absence of large water bodies. The obtained results have an important scientific and practical significance in identifying the peculiarities of the spatial distribution of species of the flora of the Republic of Buryatia.
