ENERGY SECURITY OF THE REGION (ANALYTICAL RETRO-ASSESSMENT FROM A SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT PERSPECTIVE)

Abstract
The article considers energy security as one of the main conditions for ensuring sustainable socio-economic development of the country (region). It is positioned as a state of the energy complex, which provides uninterrupted access of all spheres of economic and economic activity and human life to inexpensive, reliable and modern energy sources, including renewable energy. The purpose of the study is to assess the state of energy security of a particular subject of the Russian Federation (the Republic of Mordovia), to identify threats in this area of the economy that hinder the sustainable development of the region. The research methodology is based on the system approach; on the use of general scientific methods of cognition (abstraction, combination of historical and logical, analysis and synthesis, etc.); on the use of indicative analysis tools (normalising coefficients, comparison of real values of energy security indicators with their threshold values); methods of comparison and analysis of time series in the software package STATISTICA. The system of indicators and threshold values for assessing the state of energy security of the region was formed; the main threats in this area were identified. Proposals aimed primarily at reducing the energy intensity of the gross regional product of the Republic of Mordovia, oriented at improving the energy security of the region, are given.
