THE HOST SOCIETY AND MIGRANTS: TRAITS OF PERCEPTION AND INTERACTION

Abstract

The article is devoted to the specifics of perception and interaction between the host society and migrants. The author pays attention to the research of reasons for confrontational behavior of migrants and local population. The article presents the results of the study of the problems of constructive interaction between migrants and residents, the study was carried out in the framework of the work of the laboratory of migration and inter-ethnic conflicts of the Training and Research Center for Conflict Resolution, which operates at the social faculty at the Orel State University named after I. S. Turgenev. The author emphasizes that the main sources of interethnic tension are insufficient attention of the authorities to the issues of relations between migrants and the local population, as well as the personal dislike of the local population towards migrants. The main measures that can be used to prevent migration conflicts are the formation of tolerance, raising the cultural and educational level of the population, study of the foundations and history of religions and traditions.
