Abstract

The purpose of this work is to study the features of the ethnic structure in the border region based on the data of a sociological study. The article presents an analysis of the ethnic structure of six border regions of Russia based on a sociological study conducted by the scientific team of the Altai State University in 2019–2020 (n = 2400 aged 15 to 75 years), as well as data from the All-Russian Population Census of 2010. The results obtained indicate the ethnic diversity of the border territories of Russia. In all the selected regions, except the Republic of Tyva, the majority of the population are Russians. Interethnic marriages are an important indicator of interethnic relations in the region, and the study of mixed marriages allows us to assess and predict the ethnographic situation in the region.
