TRANSBORDER TERRITORIES: ISSUES OF THE METHODOLOGY OF INTER-DISCIPLINARY ANALYSIS

Abstract

The paper characterises the nature of the current problems of integration on the transboundary territories of the Asian part of Russia and neighbouring states. The author suggests an interpretation of the factor of transboundary for the study and optimization of the mechanisms of transboundary interactions. As a methodological basis, it is proposed to use the concept of geosystems. In the current context, geosystems are considered as relatively integral territorial entities that are formed in close interconnection and interaction of nature, population and economy. The necessity and fundamental possibility of forming a common theoretical platform for carrying out a comprehensive study of transboundary regions based on the geosystem approach, including international transboundary territories, an example of which is the Greater Altai, is determined in this paper.
