TO THE PROBLEM OF STUDYING THE RELIGIOUS POPULATION OF THE OMSK REGION IN THE 1950S

Abstract

Based on the archival files of the historical archive of the Omsk region, the article examines the religiosity of the population of the Omsk region during the 1950s. In the documents studied by the author, the activities of registered religious groups are described in detail, while only brief fragmentary information is given about the manifestations of religiosity among individuals. This fact testifies to the presence of a certain category of people whose religiosity, for various reasons, remained outside the field of view of state authorities. At the same time, the state-confessiona lpolicy pursued during this period of time required an accurate accounting of believers in the region. The lack of information about people who adhere to a religious worldview made it impossible to work with them directly and, as a result, reduced the effectiveness of measures aimed at eradicating religious vestiges among population.
