Main Article Content
Abstract
Border regions are one of the centers of migration flows, where external, internal and transit migration of the population is concentrated. Migration in these regions plays a significant role in the development of the region. The issue of both attracting migrants to these regions and preserving and increasing the number of local population remains relevant. This article presents a theoretical and empirical analysis of the migration potential of the population of the border regions of Russia. The results of sociological studies conducted among the population of the border regions of Russia in 2020–2021s are presented (n = 3457, Altai krai, Republic of Buryatia, Belgorod oblast, Voronezh oblast, Chelyabinsk oblast, and Khabarovsk krai). The average level of migration potential of the population of the border regions is noted. Population groups with internal, external and indefinite migration potential are identified.
