Abstract

Modern historical science is convinced that the Scandinavian sagas were formed on the territory of modern Scandinavia and it cannot be otherwise. However, linguistic studies on the allocation of the area of the Indo-European ancestral homeland in the Middle East region are able to cast doubt on such an opinion for the early sagas. The author of this work managed to find sufficiently convincing data, including geographical data, to support this point of view. But modern historians have an ambivalent attitude about the reliability of the information of the Scandinavian sagas. The most recent of them are considered absolutely correct until they begin to contradict the geopolitical constructions of historical science. Faced with such internal contradictions, historians immediately recall the fantastic nature of many of the sagas and strive to declare them "false", which looks strange enough for an unbiased researcher.
