TO THE PROBLEM OF STUDYING SOME DIRECTIONS OF ATHEISTIC PROPAGANDA IN KHAKASIA IN THE MID 1960S - THE FIRST HALF OF THE 1970S

Abstract

In the mid 1960-s – mid 1970-s. there was a certain liberalization of state-confessional relations. At the same time, authorities maintained control over the activities of religious communities, as well as conducted atheistic propaganda. Based on the analysis of the resolutions of the Central Committee of the CPSU and local party bodies, materials of the National Archives of the Republic of Khakassia, the paper discusses some aspects of atheistic propaganda in the Khakas Autonomous Region of the Krasnoyarsk Territory. In Khakassia, as well as in the USSR as a whole, atheistic propaganda played an important role in propaganda activities, in which the emphasis was placed on the dissemination of scientific knowledge. An important place in the organization and conduct of atheistic work in the region was played by the Khakass regional organization of the All-Union Society "Knowledge". Despite the measures taken, which had not only a purely atheistic, but also an educational task, it was not possible to completely eradicate religious views in the region.
