Abstract
The article presents the main results of a sociological survey on the language situation in the city of Semey, Abai region (Republic of Kazakhstan). Statistical data obtained during the respondents' responses to the questions of the sociological questionnaire are analyzed, 300 questionnaires in the state and Russian languages were processed in total. The article also analyzes the relevance and functioning of the main languages of our republic (Kazakh and Russian), the main trends in the development of languages in the city of Semey are revealed.
