EURASIAN MOTIFS IN N. PERUMOV'S TRILOGY «THE RING OF DARKNESS»

Abstract

The aim of the study is to identify the Eurasian context of the trilogy of the famous Russian science fiction writer N. Perumov «The Ring of Darkness». The main outlines of Perumov's polemic with Tolkien, who took a fundamentally dualistic position in the perception of the West (good) and the East (evil), are outlined. The Eurasian idea, on the contrary, allows us to synthetically rethink and apply the dialectical polarization of the world into western and eastern civilizations. The study also raises the problem of defining the Eurasian ontological identification of Russia. Tolkien's distinction between the concepts of «dragon» and «draconism» is considered in the context of the image of the dragon of the Great Orlangur created by Perumov. A philosophical assessment of the work of N. Perumov is given.
