APPLICATION OF A SEMIOTIC APPROACH TO THE STUDY OF ETHNIC CULTURES

Abstract

The article describes the possibility of interpreting culture as a system of culturemes. Culturemes are models of signs. The asymmetry of the sides of the culturemes determines the development of culture. Such processes are active in the situation of intercultural interaction. Variations and development of culture can be seen, in particular, on the example of the Sabantuy holiday, which is widespread in Eurasia. The authors consider ethnic cultures as systems of culturemes. Such units are bilateral in nature. The formal side is closely related to the content. If such a connection is broken, we are dealing with the phenomenon of asymmetry. Asymmetry is often the cause of the development of ethnic cultures. In the process of studying ethnic cultures, researchers can build models. Such models help to see ethnic cultures in the form of autonomous systems.
