Abstract

The article presents the results of a sociological study on religious identity and spiritual security among population in four border regions of Russia (Novosibirsk Oblast, Altai Krai, Republic of Altai, Republic of Tyva, mass survey n = 1860; expert survey n = 120). The purpose of the study was to identify the relationship between the level of religiosity of the population and the security in the spiritual sphere of life. The results of the analysis allowed to identify key factors, determining the parameters of spiritual security in border regions. In Altai Krai the main factor was inter-confessional dialogue and state-confessional relations; in Novosibirsk Oblast, the spiritual sphere was determined by almost the entire set of interrelated conditions, except for the openness of religious organizations and the protection of the right to free spiritual choice; the picture was similar in the Republic of Tyva. It was revealed that there is a connection between the level of religiosity of the population and the security of the spiritual sphere of life, an important role in this process is played by religious institutions that support traditional religious culture; religious, ethnic and civil identity of the population; dissemination of religious values and norms.
