Abstract
The article is devoted to the consideration of a fragment of the history of the railway development of Asian Russia on the example of the construction of the Trans-Siberian, Central Asian, Orenburg-Tashkent highways, private railways of Siberia and Turkestan. The emerging railway network was designed to provide, with mandatory consideration of the military-strategic fact, the solution of the problems of economic development of territories, social development, the formation of market relations in the conditions of public-private partnership.
