IMPORT SUBSTITUTION: PROBLEMS AND PROSPECTS

Abstract
The article is devoted to the issues of import substitution in Russia. The following issues are considered economic and political problems that Russia has faced in recent years; disruption of commodity flows both into and outside the country; fluctuations in exports and imports over the past 10 years, depending on economic and political processes; alternative ways of exchanging goods with countries Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation. It is pointed out the need to maintain a balance between national interests, opportunities and the international situation. It is noted that the policy of import substitution should mainly take place in those sectors of the economy that are most dependent on imported goods. Critical industries have been identified that will address the priority tasks of achieving independence from supplies from abroad. Examples of successful import substitution are given. The article reflects the attitude of Russian business towards import substitution and also presents data on exports and imports of Russia in recent years.
