PROSPECTS OF DEVELOPMENT OF REGIONAL DAIRY INDUSTRY
Abstract
The article analyzes the dairy industry in the region, which revealed the negative trends in the development: the shortage of raw milk; reduction of the number of cows with a significant share of low-value households in the production of raw milk; increase in activity in the Russian market of dairy producers of the Republic of Belarus; reduction in consumer demand for milk and dairy products.
The authors identify the main objectives of the development of the dairy industry in the region: increasing the productivity of cows and increasing the rate of marketability of milk. It is revealed that the increase in imports, which leads to an increase in consumption and restrains the growth of prices. This reduces the competitiveness and profitability of domestic producers. In order to increase competitiveness, Russian enterprises will be forced to reduce the cost of production, which can lead to an increase in the share of falsification. However, the dairy industry of the Altai region has export potential. The modernization of existing production facilities and the introduction of new technologies will allow secondary raw milk to be used as a resource to increase the volume and expand the range of products, as well as improve environmental performance. The increase and efficiency of state support measures also contribute to the development of the dairy industry in the region in the medium term.
