In the Central Federal District, five regions are frontier - Belgorod, Bryansk, Voronezh, Kursk and Smolensk. The article analyzes which peoples come to the attention of the regional media, what topics are covered by journalists and what they are less interested in. The conclusion is drawn that it is necessary to qualitatively and quantitatively improve the work of the media in covering the topic of interethnic relations. In addition, it turned out that the culture and life of a neighboring state is of less interest to journalists than the culture and life of «visitors» and «strangers». In order to improve the work of journalists, measures are needed to improve skills and establish contacts with representatives of ethnic NGOs. This will help to coordinate work of local authorities, public organizations and the media.
