TRENDS AND PROSPECTS OF SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT OF SMALL AND MEDIUM-SIZED BUSINESSES IN THE REGION

Abstract
The problem of sustainable development of small and medium-sized businesses at the regional level is urgent. The author has studied the current trends in the development of the activities of subjects in the field of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) of the Bryansk region, identified negative aspects that hinder their sustainable development. Providing a significant contribution to the formation of the gross regional product, SMEs are undoubtedly the most important element of the socio-economic system of the Bryansk region. Most of the SMEs (especially small enterprises, including microenterprises) are involved in the non-manufacturing sector, namely in wholesale and retail trade. Medium-sized enterprises in the region are engaged in industrial activities. The analysis of the current state of the Ministry of Agriculture made it possible to identify the primary measures aimed at the sustainable development of small and medium-sized businesses in the region. One of these measures is to support business sectors that, under the conditions of anti-Russian sanctions, perform a number of important import substitution tasks, ensuring economic stability. It is noted that small and medium-sized businesses in the region contribute to reducing tension in the labor market. Regional policy measures to support the SMEs are the basis for stimulating entrepreneurship and and they should be aimed at its further development, based on the principles of economic growth, social responsibility, and respect for the environment.
