CONCEPTUAL APPROACHES TO DEFINITION THE CONCEPT OF “INNOVATIVE POTENTIAL OF REGION”

Abstract
The author conducts a comprehensive analysis of conceptual approaches to the interpretation of the concept of innovative potential of the region. The main goal of this research is to systematize and integrate the understanding of innovation potential from the point of view of theory as a key element of regional development. As a result of the study, four approaches to the interpretating of innovative potential were identified including: resource, process, result and systemic. In order to fully understand each of them, not only their features were analyzed, but also the advantages and limitations of each of them. The result of the work was the creation of an integrated approach to understanding the essence of the innovative potential of the region through a thorough systematic analysis of various theories, on the basis of which it is possible to develop more effective strategies for managing the innovative development of territories. The practical significance of these results lies in the possibility of their use in the activities government bodies when developing relevant programs.
