Abstract

In 2022-2024, transportation between China and Russia is becoming crucial for Russian logistics, which requires large-scale modernization and adaptation of Russian infrastructure to the ever-growing volume of trade. The main objective of this study is to identify the key factors determining the choice of China-Russia transit methods, as well as systematize up-to-date data on the state of the logistics infrastructure and its development prospects. The author used Rosstat statistics on freight transportation for the period 2000-2024, reports from the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Economy of the Russian Federation. Special attention is paid to the evolution of trucking and the activities of trucking companies, the existing infrastructure constraints in rail transport and the need for accelerated digitalization of logistics processes in the automotive sector. As a result of the study, the reasons for the change in the trend of choosing the method of cargo transportation have been established and it has been established that the modernization of logistics routes and the expansion of the capacity of border crossings are key conditions for ensuring sustainable growth in cargo transportation. The conclusions of the work emphasize the significant potential of multimodal transportation in the Russian-Chinese

direction, if measures are implemented to modernize infrastructure and digitalize processes. Further development of this area, according to the author, will help to increase the economic efficiency of cargo transportation and stabilize trade turnover between the countries.
