Abstract

This paper reviews contemporary foreign publications from 2000-2024, reflecting the nature of the changing relationship between freelancing and intellectual capital, as well as the transformation of freelancing into a new innovative entrepreneurial model within the digital economy. The results show that the potential synergy between freelancing and intellectual capital remains underdeveloped from an economic and practical points of view and has not been sufficiently studied in academic discourse, however, it is a distinct trend, especially after the covid-19 period. The authors examine the distinctive features and interrelationships of freelancing and intellectual capital, draw attention to foreign experience in using multifunctional freelance exchanges and propose a conceptual model of a multifunctional online platform for freelancing as a tool to support innovative economic development, and also draw attention to the role of freelance trade unions. This work contributes to the development of entrepreneurship and the gig-economy, by considering freelancing as a dynamic phenomenon that significantly impact on future business models and labor market policies.
