УДК 94(410)
Abstract
The article actualizes the problem of historical memory, which plays an important role in the reflection of past events. This aspect is an important component in the characterization of society in a certain historical period. British newspapers of the 1930 help researchers in revealing the attitude of society to the First World War. The article examines such mass sources of information as newspapers, which were in demand among readers at the local and regional levels. At the same time, the materials of newspapers can be compared with large national publications. For researchers, these sources may be of interest from the point of view of history, in particular, for historians – the possibility of expanding the picture of the past. Despite the fact that the materials of the periodical press may have distorted data about events, they are a reflection of public sentiment and trends that need to be investigated.
