Abstract
Migration is a complex socio-demographic process of territorial movement of the population associated with a change in the place of permanent residence, economic structure and location of productive forces with an increase in social and labor mobility of the population. This process can cause an ambiguous reaction from the host society. The relations that develop in the process of such interaction have their own specifics and depend on both the characteristics of migration flows and the host community.This paper presents the results of a study of the attitude of residents of the Novosibirsk region to migrants. The main source of empirical data was a sociological survey of the population of the Novosibirsk region. The estimates by the local population of the migration situation in the region and the attitudes of residents in relation to migrants are given. The views of the region's residents regarding the volume of migration flows are described, and the assessment of changes in interethnic relations in the region is given.
