ALTERNATIVE DISPUTE RESOLUTION WITH THE PARTICIPATION OF A MEDIATOR AS A POSSIBLE MECHANISM FOR REDUCING CORRUPT BEHAVIOR

Abstract

The article deals with the problem of corruption from a sociological point of view. The author focuses on the causes of corrupt behavior related to the conflict between individual and collective interests as well as the problem of using official power. Some reasons for the lack of trust of citizens to public institutions and their inefficiency are analyzed. The author considers mediation as an alternative conflict resolution procedure and as a measure to prevent corruption behavior. The article considers the grounds of mediation as a procedure that can remove some corruption-related factors. The main principles of mediation are listed, and an example of how the appeal of the parties to the conflict to an independent mediator can reduce the risks of illegal behavior is given.
