Abstract

It was found that in the processes of oxidation of native lignins of plant raw materials (flax, pine) by oxygen at 160 °C into vanillin and cellulose, an increase in the intensity of mass transfer leads to the transition from the limiting stage of diffusive oxygen transfer through the gas-liquid surface to the diffusion stages inside the solid particles of raw materials. The maximum theoretical yields of vanillin can be obtained in the diffusion mode at both mentioned modes of diffusion limitation.
