ON THE IMPORTANCE OF MEMORIAL AND MONUMENTAL OBJECTS IN THE FORMATION OF THE IMAGE OF THE TERRITORY AND IN THE PRESERVATION OF HISTORICAL MEMORY OF MILITARY EVENTS (ON THE EXAMPLE OF THE ALTAI REGION AND THE CITY OF BARNAUL)

The authors' study of territorial management issues, the formation of their image, and the specifics of regional and municipal policies over a number of years using methods of analyzing archival and legal acts and documents, historical and modern information materials, expert opinions, local history and reference literature contributed to a deeper immersion in the topic. Involvement in the process of state and municipal governance, participation in scientific and practical events made it possible to correlate subjective authorial opinions with objective scientific views on a number of nuances of the area under study. From the authors' point of view, insufficient attention is paid by researchers to such objects of territorial infrastructure as memorials, monuments, and military history monuments, despite the fact that they can be an integral part of the image of a city, region, or the entire country. Significant events of 2025, declared the Year of the Defender of the Fatherland by the President of Russia, and the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory emphasize the relevance and timeliness of considering the stated topic using materials from the Altai region and its capital is the city of Barnaul.
