Since last year, the Higher Attestation Commission has been working hard to categorize scientific journals included in the VAK list into categories reflecting their scientific importance, demand and value in the scientific community, similar to what happens in the international scientometric databases Scopus and Web of Science.

Russian experts adapted foreign experience and proposed to divide all journals into three groups - quartiles (K1, K2, K3) corresponding to quantitative and qualitative criteria. Categorization on the basis of quantitative indicators was made on the basis of scientific citation indexes of the publication and authors, frequency of viewing articles of the publication during the year. Qualitative indicators, by which the status of the publication was assessed, were the level of authority of the authors, uniqueness and quality of their articles, the level of the reviewing organization and the founding organization.

The editorial board of Society and Security Insights is pleased to announce that according to the results of categorization, the journal was assigned the second quartile (K2), which indicates the high authority of the authors and the level of publications, their "visibility" and demand in the readership of professionals who are close to the problems that the journal develops both in Russia and in the broad Eurasian context. This is a great merit of all those who are not indifferent to the fate of the journal and make a great contribution to its development!
