RESEARCH OF MULTILAYERED CULTURALLY DIFFERENT COMPLEXES OF THE UPPER PRICHUMYSHIE: UST-SHAMONIKHA-I
Abstract
Upper Prichumyshe is a region comprising two different orographic zones, the Biysk-Chumysh highland and the Salair Ridge. Currently, it is one of the most studied archaeological microdistricts. The peculiarities of the Chumysh valley formation led to the formation of a valley-beam relief with a large number of expressive micro-valleys, capes and small tributaries. In different periods of history, the areas of the valley that were most convenient for living and implementation of appropriating and producing economy were settled several times. On a number of sites, combinations of settlements of different periods and soil necropolis were recorded. Some of these complexes have already been published - Ust-Vasikha 2, Steppe-Chumysh oil plant, Kovrizhki 1 and 2 published partly or in full [Kungurov, 1997, 1998, 2005]. The article presents the results of the study of materials of the multi-layered site Ust-Shamonikha 1 located in the south-western foothills of Salair Ridge. In addition to the cultural layers of Bolshemysskaya, Bystryanskaya and Odintsovskaya cultures, the burial of the Srostkinskaya culture was investigated on the site. With this work, the authors open a cycle of research works devoted to the publication of multi-layered sites of the region - the Kovrizhka, Kuyuk and Ulus complexes.
