Abstract

The article reflects the results of geophysical research on the territory of the archaeological site “Ivanovka-I, Barrow Group” located in the Shelabolikhinsky district of the Altai Territory. At this complex, 19 barrows of various degrees of preservation were documented, most of such objects were plowed up. Two of them are large and belong to the category of “elite” funerary objects. The tasks of geophysical research included the identification of magnetic anomalies at the site of mounds which were not observed on the site area and the obtaining the information about the grave structures of large mounds. In the course of the work, the method of magnetic aerotomography (multi-altitude aeromagnetic survey using an unmanned aircraft and a portable high-frequency magnetometer) was used which had been developed at Novosibirsk State University and the Institute of Petroleum Geology and Geophysics SB RAS. A three-level aeromagnetic survey of two sites on the territory of the Ivanovka-I site made it possible to clarify information about the features of ring ditches documented around the earthy mounds. Studies of the northern part of the area of the burial ground with plowed mounds revealed anomalies in the area where the presence of the alleged objects was determined from images from space. This allows applying the technique of satellite imagery data to detect burial mounds which were completely destroyed during plowing.
