Why silence is Unbearable for us and how Gadget Culture changes human Nature
Abstract
The article is devoted to the philosophical and cultural analysis of the phenomenon of boredom in the context of modern digital culture. The everyday, almost reflexive craving for gadgets in moments of pause is considered not as a harmless habit, but as a symptom of a profound existential and anthropological shift. It is shown how the technological environment, persistently filling every minute of inaction with external stimuli, deprives a person of the opportunity to be alone with himself, which leads to the impoverishment of the inner world, fragmentation of thinking and loss of the ability for deep reflection. In contrast, the value of intentional inaction and "digital abstinence" is substantiated not as an escape from progress, but as a practice of gaining psychological autonomy, restoring cognitive functions and the ability to hear one's own voice. The results of the study indicate that the conscious practice of boredom and silence today is becoming a form of intellectual resistance and the acquisition of digital sovereignty.
