Abstract

The study provides a comprehensive analysis of the current state and trends in tourism development in a number of areas of the region, with particular attention to tourism potential, natural resources, cultural heritage and opportunities for active recreation. The key areas of tourism development in various locations are characterized, the features of recreational activities, tourism seasonality and biological diversity are identified. Particular attention is paid to the analysis of opportunities for water sports, excursion routes, equipment rental and cultural facilities.The issues of organizing tourism activities, including the operation of the motor ship “Pioneer Altaya”, the development of rental infrastructure, fishing tours and ethnotourism opportunities are considered. The potential of winter tourism and the functioning of the ski resort “Teletsky” are analyzed. The dynamics of collective accommodation facilities, the development of rural “green” houses and the features of tourism management at the municipal level, including the program-targetedapproach and financing are assessed. An expert survey was conducted, the main problems of infrastructure and accessibility were identified, such as the quality of roads and the lack ofequipped beaches. In conclusion, conclusions are formulated on the impact of the identified problems on the tourist attractiveness of the region and the prospects for its further development. The article considers possible scenarios for increasing the tourist attractiveness of the region, as well as barriers that hinder the effective development of the tourism sector. Areas are identified that can increase the region’s resilience to external influences and increase the economic return from tourism activities.
