THE LEVEL OF KNOWLEDGE AND POSSESSIONS BY THREE LANGUAGES AMONG THE RESIDENTS THE CITY OF SEMEY

Abstract

The language aspect occupies an important place in the state policy of Kazakhstan. Since the Declaration of independence, language processes have been the subject of acute controversy in all spheres of life. The study of the language situation in the Semey region is quite interesting, because this region is bordering with Russia and representatives of the Russian ethnic group in the region quite a lot – 30% of the total population. Russian language in the city is used equally with Kazakh. The next factor was that during the implementation of the «Road map for the development of trilingual education» the study of public opinion on the subject of knowledge of three languages becomes very important. Sociological study of the language situation in the Semey region will allow a more complete look at the problems of language relations and outline the prospects for their development.
