TRANSFORMATIONS OF SOCIAL IDENTITY FROM POSITION OF THE SOCIOLOGY OF MEDICINE

Abstract

Relevance of the article is connected with reflections on role and place of communication agents in medical and social space. In modern society, individuals and social groups are engaged in a search for identity, in particular, those forms that are formed by the social institutions of medicine. Transformations of modern identities of main actors of medical communication from a point of view of history, education, clinical medicine, «doctor — patient» relationships, sociological methodology, global challenges are examined. A novelty of the work lies in application of dilemmas of paternalism / partnership, liberalism / conservatism, humanization / dehumanization, etc. to understand the «doctor — patient» relationship in a process of choosing their identities. Sociological paradigms of modern / post-modern, turn to biology are applied. The results of the work have practical importance for organizing daily activities of medical staff and patients. It is concluded that in the modern space of medical and social communication is characterized by a combination of old and new views, models and paradigms.
