NEW OBJECTS OF THE STONE AGE IN THE TERRITORY OF MONGOLIAN ALTAI
Abstract
Mongolian Altai in archaeological terms still remains a poorly studied region. Especially it concerns identification and research of the sites of the most ancient history (Stone Age). The main problem is specific natural and landscape conditions. The objects which are already known are the sites with the destroyed or not created cultural layer. Despite this, it is necessary to continue the search the complexes that will provide essential information as well as record all findings of the Stone Age. In 2013 the participants of the Buyant archaeological expedition created with the assistance of the universities of Barnaul (Russia), Ulaanbaatar and Hovd (Mongolia) conducted examinations of several sites with the purpose to search stone artifacts. The article presents the results of the work carried out in the territory of Mongolia and China. The received data complement already available information, and also define prospects of carrying out archeological excavations and investigations. Among the found monuments the most significant are the Choshakbet site which is located in upper stream of the Irtysh (to the southeast from the Chinese city Fuyun) and is in a critical condition.
