FORMATION OF CONCEPTUAL APPROACHES IN STUDYING IRMEN ANTIQUITIES (mid 1950s – 1960s)
Abstract
This paper studies the research concepts that developed in the mid 1950 – 1960 and related to the reconstruction of cultural and historical processes that took place in the territory of the south of Western Siberia during the Late Bronze Age. We have shown that the development of concepts took place at the beginning of the flowering of siberian archaeology on the basis of an increase in the source fund, large-scale excavations in previously known regions (Altai, Novosibirsk, Tomsk Ob River, Lower Pritomye) and in new territories (Kuznetsk Basin, Baraba, forest-steppe Priirtyshye). Analysis of the works of M.P. Gryaznov, N.L. Chlenova, M.F. Kosareva, T.N. Troitskaya and other authors made it possible to conduct their comparative analysis, to reveal the general and specific features, to show the ways of evolution of the views of researchers on such issues as the origin of culture, its component composition, chronology and periodization, interaction with other cultural entities, territorial boundaries, local differences, historical fate, as well as the reconstruction of social processes and economic activities. This made it possible to identify the peculiarities of the perception by the specialists studying the Irmen antiquities, characteristic precisely for this stage in the development of the archaeology of Siberia.
