RECONSTRUCTION OF HAIR STYLE ACCORDING TO THE MATERIALS OF MOUND No.1 of the KARBAN-2 BURIAL
Abstract
The article puts into scientific circulation the object complex of Pazyryk Culture burial mound No. 1 of Karban-2 (Altai Republic) investigated in 1989–1990 by the archaeological expedition of the Barnaul State Pedagogical Institute (M.A. Demin, A.P. Umansky and V.B. Borodaev) and presents the results of reconstruction of women’s hair style (plait and hairpin) based on the materials of the necropolis in collection of the Museum of Local History of the Altai State Pedagogical University (coll. No 27). The prospects of using fragmentary, practically devoid of contextual support, archaeological remains for the creation of series of the hypothetical reconstructions are considered. The complete set of plaits with one or two pins was the widespread element for the early nomads of Eurasia.
