BRONZE AGE BURIAL MOUND MADYARSAI-I FROM NORTH-EAST SLOPES OF KINDYKTAS OF THE MOUNTAINS
Abstract
New materials of burial mound of Bronze age Madyarsai-1, located at North East slopes of Kindyktas ridge are introduced into scientific circulation. Monument`s structure and its position in archaeological complex of Bronze age from gorge Kindyktas have been detailed. For population of Bronze epoch in this region this place used to be a central cemetery. Separate burial structures as small groups in different parts of the cemetery, presumably demonstrate territories of individual families and tribal groups in a common tribal cemetery. According to the materials of archaeological excavations, it can be seen that researched complex consists of 28 stone fencings in one construction. Burials were made in stone boxes and cysts, both according to the cremation rite, and with corpse-laying in a crouched form on the left side with the head to the West. The results of cameral processing of artifacts made it possible to find out the characteristic and individual elements of funeral traditions in the region. Received data obtained allow us to distinguish two stages in the functioning of the burial ground – the 18th–17th centuries BC and the 16th–14th centuries BC and link them with the development of mixed Alakul and Fedorovo traditions of the Andronovo cultural and historical community. Analysis of funeral traditions and material gives reason to assume a significant degree of mutual influence Ancient cultures during Bronze epoch in Central Kazakhstan and Jetysu.
