STONE PRODUCTS OF THE BYSTRYAN CULTURE OF THE EARLY IRON AGE FROM THE “TALITSA-PEREKHOD” SETTLEMENT (BEREZOVKA VILLAGE, KATUN RIVER VALLEY)
Abstract
The article presents the results of the study and characteristics of the complex of stone products found during the study of the emergency settlement “Talitsa-Perekhod” 0.8 km east of the village of Berezovka in the Krasnogorsk district of the Altai Territory. The work was due to the fact that the territory of the site falls into the zone of construction of a high-pressure gas pipeline from the village of Berezovka to the city of Biysk. The settlement is located on a 3–4 m high terrace above the floodplain, on the right bank of the stream of the Talitsa, a tributary of the Berezovka river. The site has not previously been subjected to targeted archaeological research. The cultural layer of the settlement, containing archaeological material from various eras, was studied on the excavation area of 616 m2. The depth of the layer is from 40 to 80 cm. The materials of the site contain finds from the Paleolithicera, the Neolithic, and various departments of the Bronze and Iron Ages. The main part of the collection belongs to the Bystryan culture of the early Iron Age. It includes more than three thousand fragments of ceramics, bronze and iron objects, fragments of ceramic molds, spinning wheels and stone products. The purpose of the article is to describe and introduce into scientific circulation the complex of stone tools of the Bystryan culture of the Early Iron Age.
