Abstract
The biographical essay is dedicated to the anniversary of the famous scientist, specialist in the field of archaeology of Siberia and Altai — Nadezhda Fyodorovna Stepanova, whose scientific activity covers a wide range of topics, including the study of the Afanasyevskaya and Pazyrykskaya cultures of the Altai Mountains, as well as ancient ceramics. The key stages of the life of the hero of the day are given. It tells about the significant expeditionary activity of Nadezhda Fyodorovna, including excavations of the sites such as Uznezya-1, Maly Dugan, Elekmanar-2, Tytkesken-I, VI, Gorny-10, etc., as well as extensive exploration work related to the construction of the Katunskaya hydroelectric power station. The essay presents the most important scientific results of N.F. Stepanova, which were obtained during field research and systematization of materials. The contribution of Nadezhda Fyodorovna to the study of the technology of making ancient ceramics is examined in detail within the framework of the historical and cultural approach, of which she is a representative, being a student of A.A. Bobrinsky. Particular attention is paid to the research of the ceramics of the Afanasyevskaya culture, the analysis of the raw materials of the steppe, forest-steppe and mountain Altai, and the active participation of the Jubilee in other scientific projects is described.
