Abstract

This study focuses on Viktor Sosnora's two poems about St. Petersburg Summer Garden, examining it as a semantic nexus of his authorial mythopoetics. The central analytical category is the concept of the poetics of configurational shifts, introduced by the article's authors to describe the fundamental instability of subject-object relations and figurative systems in his work. Within this framework, traditional ekphrasis undergoes a radical transformation: statues acquire agency, while the lyrical subject is captured by a process of petrification. The Pushkinian paradigm of inexorable fate is reinterpreted as an infernal and purposeless cycle. The garden's space is analyzed in its theatrical and ruinous manifestations, where the imperial historical narrative delaminates into a carnivalesque spectacle. Thus, Sosnora's Summer Garden is constituted as a metaphor for the historical process itself, understood as a perpetual displacement of cultural configurations, directed by impersonal forces
