RUSSIAN URBANONYMS IN REFLECTION OF THE RUSSIAN WORLD

Abstract
The article traces the extent to which Russian urbanonyms represent and protect local culture, the entire Russian world and Russia itself. The study of urbanonyms prevailing in Russia was conducted based on the most frequent of them presented on the electronic resource "The Eponymous Streets". Only names that were repeated more than 200 times were included in the analysis. There were 78 of them, and their total number was 26,654. All of them were divided into 6 clusters. Insufficient reflection of the Russian world by urbanonyms was demonstrated. Urbanonyms with the name Soviet (Sovetskaya or Sovetsky) are borne by 718 streets, lanes, avenues, and passages. The name Russian (Russkaya) is borne by 27 streets in Russia. The most widespread urbanonym of modern Russia is Oktyabrsky(y), including the names of 25 October, or "-anniversary of October" (902 repetition). Among personalities, the undisputed authority in the names of streets, avenues and squares in Russia remains V.I. Lenin " (765 repetition). Apart from Krupskaya, none of the women has overcome the barrier of 200 urbanonyms. Empress Catherine II is put forward as a worthy candidate for naming our streets and squares. Specific proposals for highlighting the uniqueness of the city are traced using the example of Istra near Moscow. A template set of urbanonyms deprives Russian cities of competitive advantages. The possibilities of reviving Russia studies, which bring geography closer to history and philology, are considered.
