THEORETICAL AND METODOLOGICAL FOUNDATION FOR FORMING READING LITERACY OF GEOGRAPHIC TEXTS AS A BASIS FOR TRAINING SPECIALISTS IN THE TOURISM INDUSTRY
Abstract
The goals of education, which were focused on the assimilation of knowledge by students, have undergone changes, and currently the actual task of training is the formation of the ability to use the acquired knowledge to solve practical problems in everyday life. The development of skills to find the necessary information, transform information to gain new knowledge, leads to the fact that the system of teaching methods is changing in the education system. The large amounts of information received by students within the framework of school education, as well as outside of school, led to the fact that new teaching methods had to appear, which lead to the formation of students» skills to use several sources of information. One of these approaches is the formation of reader literacy. Currently, there is a large amount of information that students have to face every day. It is very difficult for schoolchildren to process, comprehend, and analyze this information. Therefore, the teacher has an important task to teach students how to work correctly with texts, to form a culture of both literate and meaningful reading.
