Abstract

Attention is drawn to the great opportunities and the role of documentary films in the formation of objective ideas about the Soviet type of modernization. Using the example of the Kazakh SSR, the specificity of documentary films in understanding the interaction of traditions and innovations in a contradictory, culturally complex multinational society is noted.
